About us

Unified Action Council (UAC) is a non-government and non-profit voluntary organization operating in Odisha (India).   The organization had its maiden entry into social action during disastrous super-cyclone period that struck Odisha during 1999 having large impact upon lives and livelihood of millions of victims. Since the organization set out, it has been encountering with choices for envisioning an alternative development that shares and promotes equity in socio-economic condition of resource poor and vulnerable mass.   In marching towards social action, the organization works with vulnerbale sections of primitive tribals, Scheduled Caste population and other disadvantged  sections of society. In all of approaches participation and decision making of women  counterparts through empwoerment process contributes to better gender relation where in women and men can play an equal role in social development and livelihood sustenance

We focus on rights based approach towards mainstreaming children in tribal and vulnerable area through educational approach and promoting enabled environment having definite community participation. In community based approach gender mainstreaming remains priority focus. We implement and support action on the ground that aims at improving quality of life through inclusion process and initiatives that include people’s access and control over natural resources, livelihood management and increasing to health services and delivery system. We also implement advocacy, research and capacity building projects that focus on enhancing knowledge and involving policymakers, the media and the private sector on identified priority issues. The projects and programmes that we implement are innovative, scalable and aim at changing socio-economic outcomes.  

• Community Empowerment:              

Community empowerment remains one of our focal point, so making all positive effort in sensitizing forest dwelling tribal communities, dalits and backward communities for their participation at all levels. Thus bringing in a positive change so they put their collective voice. As the organization primarily focuses on education, our effort in building capacity of SMCs (School Management Committees), PTAs (Parents Teachers' Associations), SMDCs (School Management and Development Committees) has yielded positive responses across stakeholders. Block level platform of SMC/ PTA and district level platform of SMC/ PTA has been formalized in Keonjhar district. Civil society participation in the initiative has been encouraging in building the process to develop a child-friendly educational environment

Aslo, in bottom up initiative we are constantly engaging with Anganwadis as covered under ICDS . Capacity building of community members basically MCs and JCs have impacted positively in nutritional security of children as well as step to promote pre-school education. We provide a leverage that makes long-lasting difference.  

Our composite action corroborates to Survival, Protection, Participation and Development of child as per charter of UNCRC and  SDG (Sustainable Development Goal)
